Our client is an international R&D company active in the field of electric energy generation and storage. They are partnered with a well-known UK-based technology company developing electric vehicles which runs multiple projects from their offices and laboratories in London, San Francisco, and St. Petersburg, Russia, and collaborate with leading academic experts in computational and experimental materials science worldwide. At the moment we are looking for a skilled and motivated battery lab technician to join their team in London, UK, to investigate and develop novel materials for energy storage devices. The ideal candidate will have a broad experience of lab tools commonly used in battery cell development and production.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing new cathode and electrolyte materials for one of our key energy storage technologies.
  • Coating electrodes with different binders, conductive additives as well as preparing electrolytes with different solvents, salts, and additives.
  • Assembly of coin and pouch cells using several different types of electrode materials
  • Interacting with internal and external experimental groups to support product development in these areas.
  • Creating and constantly improving technical specifications and protocols for parts and products used in internal cell assembly.

Required experience:

  • Hands-on experience working with lithium-ion batteries and/or supercapacitors.
  • Hands-on experience in the preparation of battery electrodes and mixing electrolytes.
  • Hands-on experience assembling batteries in coin and pouch cell format.
  • Hands-on experience working with electrode coaters, gloveboxes, polymer separators, and metallic lithium is a strong plus.
  • Experience of collaboration with research and material scientist is a strong plus.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical material clearly to non-specialists.
  • Comfortable working in an international team across several time zones.
  • Able to work independently and manage your time well
