The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and a strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors. The CFO will be responsible for building and leading the Company’s financial organisation, supporting growth initiatives, capital allocation decisions, investment activities, and corporate development opportunities. This role requires a commercially minded executive who combines strong corporate finance expertise with a deep understanding of the economics of entertainment, media, intellectual property, and content businesses.
Responsibilities
- Financial Leadership and Corporate Strategy
- Develop and execute the Company’s financial strategy in alignment with long-term business objectives.
- Partner with the CEO and Board of Directors on strategic planning and growth initiatives.
- Evaluate new business opportunities, investments, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
- Provide financial insight and decision support for executive leadership.
- Drive enterprise value creation through disciplined financial management and capital allocation.
- Corporate Finance and Capital Markets
- Lead capital raising initiatives, including debt and equity financing.
- Build and maintain relationships with investors, banks, private equity firms, family offices, and strategic partners.
- Structure and negotiate financing transactions.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments.
- Lead financial due diligence activities and transaction execution.
- Develop valuation models for businesses, intellectual property, and content assets.
- Establish financial oversight for film, television, digital content, music, and live entertainment projects.
- Oversee project budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking.
- Monitor production expenditures and marketing investments.
- Evaluate project profitability and return on investment.
- Develop financial frameworks for content monetization and portfolio management.
- Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
- Build a world-class FP&A function.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
- Develop executive dashboards, KPI frameworks, and management reporting systems.
- Analyze business performance and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
- Prepare Board, investor, and executive reporting materials.
- Treasury, Liquidity and Risk Management
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital.
- Optimise capital structure and financing strategies.
- Oversee banking relationships and treasury operations.
- Monitor financial, operational, and market risks.
- Implement robust financial controls and governance processes.
- Accounting, Tax and Compliance
- Oversee accounting operations and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate external audits and tax planning activities.
- Manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, legal counsel, and tax consultants.
- Establish strong internal control and risk management frameworks.
- Leadership and Team Development
- Build and lead a high-performing finance organisation.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop finance talent.
- Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Establish scalable financial processes and systems to support growth.
Key Skills
The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Film & Television Finance, Intellectual Property & Content Investments, Streaming and Digital Media, Music and Live Entertainment, Investment and Capital Formation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Technical skills: Corporate Finance, Financial Modeling, M&A and Corporate Development, FP&A, Treasury Management, Entertainment Economics, Production Finance, Capital Markets, Investor Relations, Risk Management, Internal Controls, US GAAP, Strategic Planning
- Leadership skills: strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, strong business judgment, ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment, executive presence and credibility with investors and Board members, high level of integrity and professional ethics, results-oriented approach with a focus on value creation.
- MBA strongly preferred.
- CPA, CFA, or similar professional designation is highly desirable.
- Ideally, at least 12-15 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Ideally, at least 5 years in a CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director, or equivalent executive role.
- Demonstrated experience within entertainment, media, content production, streaming, gaming, sports, or related industries.
- Proven track record in capital raising, corporate finance, and strategic transactions.
- Experience supporting M&A transactions and investment activities.
- Experience working within high-growth, entrepreneurial, or investor-backed businesses is highly desirable.
- International business experience is a strong advantage.
- Russian language skills are an advantage.
- This role is based in Los Angeles, and the client is looking for a candidate who is already based in the US; no relocation offered.
