This is an amazing opportunity for a specialist in Investments to join a well-established and growing investment firm based in the heart of London. Our client aims to make a positive impact in the world and preserve the capital for generations to come by investing in early-stage technology companies and driving business growth in Residential & Commercial Real Estate, Hospitality, Entertainment, Clean Energy, Financial & Capital Investments and Venture Capital.

They are currently in the process of hiring an Investment Director who will be responsible for developing and implementing investment strategies for managing a significant portfolio of investments in alternative & private equity and venture capital. This is a senior role in a dedicated growth team originating, assessing, structuring, executing and managing investment opportunities, providing high-quality analysis and commercial insight to support all aspects of the investment process.

Responsibilities

  • Investment strategy – responsible for the development strategic direction & style of company’s investment activities and its execution Origination
  • Utilise and enhance existing network to originate growth opportunities and build trusted relationships with the people behind the target businesses/partnerships
  • Compilation, preparation and presentation of research results to the management and investment committee Due diligence & Modelling
  • Coordinate external service providers, determining scope of work, dealing with the due diligence team, and delivering a summary version
  • Financial analysis of investments, including financial modelling, financing and tax assumptions, IRRs, output sensitivities, and research to support key underwriting assumptions
  • Lead the delivery of transactions including oversight of team members managing the process and leading any commercial discussions and contract negotiations
  • Monitor and actively engage with portfolio companies to generate the planned net IRR on the fund/s
  • Fund raising activities – participate in raising external funding Business unit & People management
  • Prepare, control and execute the budgets for the investment business unit
  • Grow, mentor and develop team and manage work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic
  • Act as a coach for the team supporting lifting up the employees, removing obstacles from their paths, and helping them become more successful.

You will have/be

  • Education and Qualifications – Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Finance or related discipline, MBA or similar Master’s Degree preferred
  • Past employment experience: AUM of at least 30M USD in direct management, was driving force behind raising external venture capital or PE funding, 10+ years related experience in venture capital, private equity, corporate finance with solid financial modelling and valuation expertise
  • Experience of working on a buy-side is preferable – Venture capital fund (preferably deep-tech focused), Family office / holding investment company with an active investment programme, Tier 1-2 investment bank, (deal support, M&A etc.; any position should be primarily focused on financial modelling and research), Experience of working with tech startups at early stages as a founder, advisor, investor etc., Real assets (such as real estate) investment experience is a plus
  • English language (not lower than C1 English (Advanced))
  • Russian or European language skills are an advantage
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks
  • Well-organised, detail-oriented, ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
